How to create user in SAP?

This sap blog will guide you on how to create a new user account in sap system.

Note : Before creating any user in SAP, you should take approval from the system owner, or if you are the system owner then you can proceed, provided you know what roles you have to provide to user.

Step 1: - If the system is newly installed then you need to login with sap* (to enable sap*, set the login/no_automatic_user_sapstar = 0 and take system restart). If you have access in the system, then you can use your own id to create another.

Step 2: - Enter the transaction code "SU01" in the address bar and press enter or execute button.

Step 3: - On user maintenance : Initial Screen, put the below details:

1. User : Enter the user ID you wants to create.
2. Click on create button as shown below.

Step 4: - On next screen, update the below details:

1. Title : Update the title as required.
2. Last Name : Update the user last name.
3. First Name : Update the user first name.
4. Communication Details : Update all communication details like default language, phone number, email address etc.

Step 5: - On logon data tab, update the details as below:

1. User Type : Update the user type as per the user.
2. Password : Update the initial password. You have to follow the mandatory parameters for password.     During logon time, you have to again change your initial password to permanent one.
3. Validity Period : Update the validity start and end date.

Step 6: - On Default tab, do as below:

1. Update default login language, date format, time and so on.
2. Update output device, like any printer if it is connected and available in sap.
3. Personal time zone : Specify the user time zone.

Step 7:  Roles

This one is very important part. Admin or creator should assign a correct role to the user, so that he can perform his tasks. Suppose, if he is system admin, then assign system administrator role.

Step 8: - Profiles

Assign profile to user. It is a mandatory step. SAP provides SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profiles by default to have all the authorizations.

Step 9: - Groups

Assign a specific user group to the user.

After completing all these steps, just save it. You user ID is ready and you can now login with this user.
